Obstetrics

Delivering comprehensive care and a broad range of obstetrical services is only a part of what you’ll find with Crown Point Obstetrics & Gynecology. We believe that every woman is unique and deserves the highest quality healthcare with personalized attention. Our job is to listen respectfully, provide the best medical options available, and allow our patients to make informed, educated choices to enhance their maternity experiences.

By providing on-site laboratory and ultrasonography, we will attempt to accommodate you as much as possible. Some of the procedures are listed below.

  • Amniocentesis – Amniocentesis is a prenatal test in which a small amount of amniotic fluid is removed from the sac surrounding the fetus for testing. The sample of amniotic fluid (less than one ounce) is removed through a fine needle inserted into the uterus through the abdomen, under ultrasound guidance. The fluid is then sent to a laboratory for analysis.
  • Non-stress testing – Nonstress test is a simple, noninvasive way of checking on your baby’s health. The test records your baby’s movement, heartbeat, and contractions. It notes changes in heart rhythm when your baby goes from resting to moving, or during contractions if you’re in labor.
  • Obstetrical ultrasounds – Ultrasound is safe and painless, and produces pictures of the inside of the body using sound waves.
  • On-site laboratory
  • Prenatal genetic testing and screening – Screening for some of the common chromosome abnormalities is now available by taking a sample of mother’s blood and looking for DNA (genetic material from her pregnancy). These tests are often called “non-invasive prenatal testing” (NIPT) or “prenatal cell-free DNA screening” (cfDNA).
