Nicole Cataldi, D.O., FACOOG
Nicole Cataldi, D.O., FACOOG is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist and a Fellow in the American Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. As an owner of Crown Point Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Cataldi is committed to providing quality healthcare to the women of Northwest Indiana.
A native of the Chicagoland area, Dr. Cataldi received her BS in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago. Afterward, she completed her medical education and residency training at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident. Recognizing the positive impact her instructors and attending physicians had in her own training and development, Dr. Cataldi provides training and mentorship to the next generation of physicians by serving as an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Cataldi also serves many administrative leadership roles at Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point, including Vice President of Medical Staff, Medical Director of the Laborist Program, and member of the Obstetrics Quality Committee. She is a past member of the Performance Improvement Committee.
As a clinician, her areas of interest include general obstetrics and gynecology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, adolescent medicine, contraceptive counseling, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and abnormal uterine bleeding. Progressive in implementing new technologies to improve patient outcomes, Dr. Cataldi is a certified Da Vinci® robotic surgeon.
Dr. Cataldi is a member of American College of Osteopathic Obstetrician and Gynecologists (ACOOG) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). She also serves on the Medical Education Foundation of the ACOOG.
Mary Eileen McCormack, D.O., FACOG
Mary Eileen McCormack, D.O., FACOG is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist and a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. As an owner of Crown Point Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. McCormack is committed to providing quality healthcare to the women of Northwest Indiana. Her areas of special interests include general obstetrics and gynecology, adolescent medicine, abnormal Pap smear and uterine bleeding.
Dr. McCormack is an alumna of Loyola University of Chicago and completed her medical training at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetric and gynecology at Stroger Cook County Hospital, serving first as Chief Resident and then as an attending. Dr. McCormack subsequently joined Crown Point Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1995 after the birth of her third child, noting the personal care and attention that she could offer her patients in private practice.
Midwife
Sheryl Behnke, C.N.M.
Sheryl Behnke is a board certified nurse midwife. Sheryl received her BS in Nursing from Purdue University. After working for several years as a labor and delivery nurse, she used her experiences and continued her education at University of Illinois at Chicago where she obtained a MS in Nurse Midwifery. She has been a midwife for over 17 years. She also values the mentors she has had along the way, and serves as a clinical instructor to both nurse practitioner and nurse midwife students.
Her clinical interests include all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology.
Sheryl is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives, Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society.
Nurse Practitioner
Mary Kate Laird, NP-C
Mary Kate Laird is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She is a native of Crown Point. Mary Kate received her BS degree from St. Mary’s College in South Bend. She then attended Indiana University to obtain her BS in Nursing. Mary Kate worked as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point. She then continued her education at Purdue University where she received her MS in Nursing.
After spending all of her nursing career working in labor and delivery, Mary Kate chose to dedicate her work as a Nurse Practitioner in women’s health.
Mary Kate is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Certified Lactation Consultant
Lavawn Souther, L.P.N, IBCLC
Lavawn is a Licensed Practical Nurse and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She have served with Crown Point Obstetrics & Gynecology in both these roles since 2000.
